Susanne Mierau developed a contemporary, needs-oriented and loving parenting style under the concept of "secure growing up", which is oriented towards Attachment Parenting. Susanne Mierau was born in Berlin in 1980 and studied early childhood education at the Free University of Berlin. Already during her studies, the field of parent education and counselling was important to her and she attended further training courses outside the university. After her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Early Childhood Education and taught on the topic of "parent counselling". After the birth of her daughter in 2009, she became self-employed and, in addition to numerous further training courses, including as a GfG birth preparer and GfG family counsellor, she also obtained a licence to practise medicine. In 2012 she opened her practice in Berlin-Tiergarten and published the book "FABELhaft durchs erste Babyjahr" (FABELhaft through the first year of baby) with her colleague Doris Niebergall at Ökotopia. In the same year, she became a mother to her son. Currently Susanne Mierau blogs almost daily on geborgen-wachsen.de (with more than 100,000 unique users), gives workshops for parents and professionals and speaks at conferences and meetings about parenting advice and child development.
