Thirsties has revolutionised the classic prefold diaper, popular for being an affordable and dependable cloth diapering option. Prefolds are used together with a cover to become a simple and convenient two-part system, where you can remove the wet or soiled insert and reuse the cover meaning less washing and a smaller water bill.
Thirsties prefolds have a unique design allowing water and air to flow through the two-layer thick panels, enabling thorough cleaning and quick drying times.
The hemp-cotton jersey fabric is as soft as your favourite T-shirt and is knitted in the USA. Hemp is an ideal fabric for cloth diapers as it has antimicrobial properties and is more absorbent than cotton. The hemp-cotton fabric is 25% more absorbent than a prefold of the same weight made only from cotton. This means the prefold diaper is trim, yet able to absorb a lot.
We recommend using Thirsties prefold diapers together with Smart Bottoms or Blueberry Capri covers.
Because the jersey fabric is very soft compared to typical hemp fibres, it may happen that small holes appear along the stitching, due to the pull and agitation from being washed many times. These holes generally do not become larger and do not affect the absorbency or function of the prefold.
For heavy wetters or when extra absorbency is needed, we recommend combining the prefold with a Thirsties hemp insert.

Wash up to 60 degrees. Tumble dry on lowest setting. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, soap or high heat in the dryer.
IMPORTANT: Thirsties Hemp products need to be washed and dried at least three times before use to rid the fibres of their natural oils and to increase absorbency. The hemp will then be fully primed and at its maximum absorbency after eight wash cycles.
