Nappy Liner - Nappy liner is a wonderful invention. The nappy liner captures the "big business" and makes it easy and hygienic to dispose of. It also protects the diaper from stains. Nappy liner is usually sold in rolls of 100 sheets, with a roll costing €4-6, depending on the desired brand..
Laundry Detergent - Some aggressive ingredients in ordinary laundry detergents can cause the diapers to age faster. Others leave residual substances that will diminish the diaper's absorbency over time. Softener and bleach are also unnecessary and are not recommended by the manufacturers. If the diapers become rough or collect residues you can occasionally use descaler.
We recommend ecological detergent or two tablespoons of TotsBots Potion for washing cloth nappies. We also recommend drying the absorbent pads in the sun if possible. The sun is not only more environmentally friendly than any dryer, the UV rays also act as a natural bleaching agent - so the absorbent pads remain stain-free. It is sufficient to wash cloth diapers at 40 or 60 degrees. Gone are the days when coarse cotton towels had to be cooked at 95 degrees.
Parents who wash a load of cloth diapers every 2-3 days quickly notice that there is still room in the washing machine with almost every wash. After having done a pre-wash to flush out the most superficial filth, you can add normal household linen without a problem. That way you usually don't just wash only diapers and your laundry costs barely increase.
Energy - The best way to wash your diapers is at 40 or 60 degrees. Afterwards the cloth nappies can be hung up to dry. Of course you can use a dryer for the absorbent pads, but we recommend drying them on a clothesline if at all possible. Instead of raising your utility costs by using the dryer, it's better to buy two or three more diapers and always have some dry nappies in reserve.
