Menstrual Products

Menstrual cups and cloth pads are better for the planet and better for you. They are reusable, safe and comfortable alternatives to disposable feminine products and they will save you money!

A menstrual cup is made from medical silicone and is the sustainable counterpart to tampons, however a cup collects blood rather than absorbing it. The cup is folded and inserted inside the vagina, where it can be worn for up to 12 hours or overnight. After rinsing, the clean cup is reinserted again. On days of heavy bleeding, the cup is removed and emptied every few hours. After every period the cup needs to be sterilised by boiling, and then it can be stored until the following month. Well-cared for menstrual cups can be used for 3-5 years.

For women who prefer wearing pads and panty liners, washable cloth pads are a great option. Made with organic cotton, bamboo or stay dry fabric, these pads usually have a layer of waterproof material and come in different sizes to suit your needs - whether it be for daily use, your monthly period, postpartum bleeding, light incontinence or as a backup for a menstrual cup. Reusabale cloth pads typically absorb more than the disposable ones and don't produce mountains of rubbish!

After wearing, rinse in cold water until the water runs clear and store in a wet bag until laundry day. Wash at 60 degrees and hang up to dry. Reusable cloth pads and panty liners can be washed hundreds of times, meaning you won't need to buy disposable pads for many years to come!
